  • Coral Essentials Reef Zeolite 2L

    Coral Essentials Reef Zeolite 2L

Product Description Our Coral Essentials Activated Carbon is an ultra-high grade, bituminous carbon, in a handy 2L bucket.  It is a virgin activated carbon in pelletised form, typical size 4-5mm diameter and 6-7mm long.  Derived from bituminous coal, its high activity and extreme surface area (due to the activation manufacturing process) make it ideal for marine aquarium filtration applications. For aquaria, carbon can be sourced from animal bones, peat, coconut shells, wood and bituminous or lignite coal. For filters, it’s generally accepted that carbon made from bituminous coal is far and away much superior. In fact, it’s the first choice for human drinking water purifiers the world over. Our Coral Essentials Activated Carbon is made purely from Bituminous coal and far superior to all other carbon. Our activated carbon is excellent at removing organic chemicals from the water. The two chemicals that carbon excels at pulling from tanks are phenols and tannins. These are produced from a variety of sources, including the metabolic waste of fish and coral, the breakdown and decomposition of faeces, plants and uneaten food, and many more. It is also excellent at the removal of chlorine, chloramine and some heavy metals. Available in 2L bucket.

  • Seachem SeaGel

    Seachem SeaGel

Product Description SeaGel™ is a blend of MatrixCarbon™ and PhosGuard™ and is is optimized specifically for aquaria where organic color body and acid removal is required without the introduction of phosphate. MatrixCarbon™ is an ultracapacity carbon for the removal of organic and color impurities. PhosGuard™ is a powerful remover of phosphate, silicate, toxic metals, and acids. Both components are bead shaped for optimum water flow characteristics and penetration. The components enhance each other and are ideal for reef and marine use. SeaGel™ may also be used in freshwater that is not phosphate buffered. Although MatrixCarbon™ has the lowest detectable leachable phosphate content of all major carbon brands tested, some phosphate is still released. Adding PhosGuard™ to the mix compensates for this. Both components are bead shaped for optimum water flow characteristics and penetration. The components enhance each other and are ideal for reef and marine use. For best results, SeaGel™ should be rinsed before use and placed in your filter so as to maximize the flow of water through it. Use caution, since product will fizz and heat on initial wetting. Use 250 mL for each 150–225 L (40–60 US gallons). Use in a filter bag such as Seachem’s The Bag™ or Zip Bag™. SeaGel™ will function 3–4 months.

  • Seachem Renew 100ml

    Seachem Renew 100ml

Product Description Renew™ is ideal for use in systems where phosphate released from all activated carbons poses a problem. Renew™ is also less aggressive than carbon, making it well suited for reefs and planted aquaria. It is also beneficial for use in soft water aquaria where the pH-raising property of many carbons is not an asset. Renew™ will remove organics and particulates in the sub-micron range; it will also help control ammonia, nitrates, and phosphates. Sizes: 100 mL, 250 mL, 500 mL, 1 L, 2 L, 4 L Renew™ should be used in exactly the same manner as activated carbon. Use 250 mL for each 120–160 L (30–40 US gallons). For best results, Renew™ should be placed so as to maximize the flow of water through it. Use in a filter bag such as the Zip Bag™. Although Renew™ is clean, it is advisable to rinse before use. It lasts about the same as carbon (4–6 weeks).

  • Last stock! Continuum Power Cleanse Heavy Metal

    Continuum Power Cleanse Heavy Metal

Product Description Power•Cleanse HM is a supreme quality, high activity filtration resin particularly selected for adsorption of copper and other toxic metals in marine, brackish and freshwater systems include planted aquariums. It will outperform fiber pads and is more economical because it can be regenerated. Its light colored beads can turn light blue or shades of gray depending on the metals adsorbed and this indicates the need for regeneration. Power•Cleanse HM is regenerable over and over again for a minimum of 2 years in normal use. Directions and protocol. Place loosely in a 200 micron polyester filter bag or filter chamber and position to force water flow through the product. For best results, use a particulate prefilter ahead of Power•Cleanse HM, such as filter floss or fine sponge. Use about 4 ml of product per gallon of aquarium capacity, or about 1 cupful per 60 US gallons (230 L). Regeneration: Regeneration should only be undertaken by persons familiar with handling strong acids. If you are not familiar and comfortable, them simply discard and purchase new. Warning: WEAR RUBBER GLOVES AND EYE GOGGLES when handling acid!! Add one part muriatic acid (available at pool supply store, observe directions and warnings on acid container) to four parts water (never add water to acid! only add acid to water). Soak resin until original color is restored or about 1 to 2 hours maximum. Discard solution. Rinse resin with fresh water 3 times and discard water. Let stand in water with 2 tablespoons of Reef•Basis KH Buffer or Flora•Viv KH+ or Basis Cichlid Buffer for 1 hour. Rinse again in fresh or salt water and test pH and make sure it is within 1 pH unit of aquarium pH and resuse as before.

  • Last stock! Continuum Basis Power Cleanse XL

    Continuum Basis Power Cleanse XL

Product Description Shrimp safe, Basis Power•Cleanse XL is a supreme quality high activity synthetic filtration resin particularly selected for sensitive marine or freshwater aquarium environments. Power•Cleanse XL contains huge numbers of mesopores and macropores suited to adsorption of a wide range of organic pollutants with zero impact on trace minerals and pH. Power•Cleanse XL will remove stains, dissolved organics and toxic gases in marine, brackish and freshwater systems. It will outperform carbon in many environments and is more economical because it can be regenerated. It turns brown or shades of yellow indicating exhaustion and need for regeneration. It is regenerable over and over again for a minimum of 2 years in normal use. Directions and protocol. Place loosely in a 200 micron polyester filter bag or filter chamber and position to force water flow through the product. For best results, use a particulate prefilter ahead of Power•Cleanse XL, such as filter floss or fine sponge. Use about 2 ml of product per gallon of aquarium capacity, or about 1 cupful per 120 US gallons (450 L). Regeneration: Mix all the table salt that will dissolve in a quantity of water sufficient to submerge a micron bag containing the beads. Normally, this will be about 360 grams in 1 Liter of dechlorinated water.  (CAUTION!! we don't recommend use of bleach to regenerate this or any resin. It can kill your fish and will damage the any resin). Massage the bag of beads by hand in the brine (wear rubber gloves), until beads return to off white or light cream color - or until they stop lightening. For best results soak them overnight. They will probably never return to snow white again, but this does not hinder their effectiveness. Rinse several times in freshwater. If for use with freshwater fish, it is best to soak them the final time in distilled water to get all remaining salt out. Reuse as before. Discard when they stop being effective (as indicated by color). Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Contains polymeric resin, if ingested drink water. If in eyes flush with water.
