    Continuum Reef.Basis Magnesium

Product Description Reef•Basis Magnesium is a high quality, ionically balanced solution of hydrated magnesium salts designed to safely raise the magnesium level in marine aquariums, providing essential magnesium for support of aragonite formation in corals, assisting in regulation of calcium and alkalinity levels and for other desirable functions. It contains no acetate, gluconates, polygluconates or other unnecessary organics to pollute your aquarium. It is phosphate and nitrate free. Use in aquarium keeping. Proper control of magnesium level is imperative for the health and growth of corals as well as maintenance of calcium and buffer levels. Some sea salt mixes are low in magnesium. Continuum recommends that you maintain a magnesium level of between 1,250 and 1,350 mg/L (ppm) for normal reef keeping. This product is also suitable for use by hobbyists who want to raise the magnesium level up to the range of 1,500 to 1,800 mg/L (ppm) for special uses. If you raise the magnesium level that high, be sure to closely monitor the condition of corals and other animals to make sure that they remain healthy and vibrant. Should negative signs such as corals refusing to open, poor coloration etc. be seen, discontinue use and allow the level to decrease until the animals look healthy again. Directions and protocol. Shake well prior to use. Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 25 US-gallons (100 L) of marine aquarium water 3 to 4 times per week. For best results, measure the magnesium concentration and add as required to maintain the concentration between 1,250 and 1,350 mg/L (ppm). Expert use. Dosing through use of a drip system is a superior method of addition. Do not mix with buffers or alkalinity supplements prior to addition. You may mix it with strontium, calcium, and many other supplements. See our website for compatibility of supplements. Determine the amount of magnesium consumption during the time it takes add the entire volume of your drip system. Determine the amount of Reef•Basis Magnesium to add in milliliters by multiplying your tank capacity in gallons by the amount you want to raise it in mg/l (ppm) and by 0.0533. (Example: if you have a 50 gallon tank and you want to raise the level by 10 ppm with the entire dose, you would multiply 50 x 10 x 0.0533 which equals 26.65 ml of Reef•Basis Magnesium or about 5-1/4 capfuls).

  • Continuum Reef.Basis Potassium

    Continuum Reef.Basis Potassium

Product Description Reef•Basis Potassium is a high quality, maximum strength ionic potassium solution which is stronger than most competing products and designed to safely raise the potassium level in marine aquariums, providing essential potassium for increased growth rates in stony corals, and increased coloration. It contains no acetate, gluconates, polygluconates or other unnecessary organics to pollute your aquarium. It is phosphate and silicate free. May be used simultaneously with Kalkwasser. Use in aquarium keeping. Potassium is required for formation of aragonite in scleractinians and required for color pigmentation in many corals, particularly small polyped stonies of blue and purple hues. Potassium can be depleted through heavy animal population and may be lacking in economy salt mixes. Continuum recommends that you maintain a potassium level of between 380 and 405 mg/L (ppm), a calcium level of between 410 and 450 mg/L (ppm), an alkalinity level of 7 to 11 dKH (2.5 to 4 meq/L), and a magnesium level of 1250 to 1350 mg/L (ppm). Note: Aquarists keeping SPS corals should consider keeping alkalinity at 7 to no more than 9 dKH (2.5 to 3.21 meq/L). Do not add Reef•Basis Potassium to buffering (alkalinity) products. Directions and protocol. Shake well prior to use. Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 50 US-gallons (200 L) of marine aquarium water 3 to 4 times per week. For best results, measure the potassium concentration and add as required to maintain the concentration between 380 and 405 mg/L. Expert use. Dosing through use of a drip system is a superior method of addition. Do not mix with buffers or alkalinity supplements prior to addition. You may mix it with calcium, magnesium, and many other supplements. See our website for compatibility of supplements. Determine the amount of potassium consumption during the time it takes to add the entire volume of your drip system. Determine the amount of Reef•Basis Potassium to add in milliliters by multiplying your tank capacity in gallons by the amount you want to raise it in mg/l (ppm) and by 0.05. (Example: if you have a 50 gallon tank and you want to raise the level by 20 ppm with the entire dose, you would multiply 50 x 20 x 0.05 which equals 50 ml of Reef•Basis Potassium or about 10 capfuls).

  • Last stock! Continuum ULNS Nitro 500ml

    Continuum ULNS Nitro 500ml

Product Description ULNS Nitro is a complex inorganic nitrogen source designed to promote natural phosphorus uptake and nutrient control in ultra low nutrient systems which are nitrate limited. It provides an important nutrient source for nutrient assimilation and biological balance in the aquarium. It is recommended for use by advanced hobbyists. Bleaching or coral tissue degradation may occur in ULNS systems where adequate nutrient content is not maintained. ULNS systems depend on bacterial management of phosphate in a balanced carbon and nitrogen environment which allows rapid uptake of excess dissolved organic compounds. The conversion to bacterial biomass allows protein skimming to export unwanted nutrients that would otherwise build up in the system. This recycling of nutrients requires that all necessary nutrients, i.e. nitrogen, phosphorus, and carbon be present in concert. Use in aquarium keeping. For maximum results, Continuum recommends that you use this product with BacterGen•M, BacterGen•MD or BacterClean•M to keep microbe levels at optimum, along with Reef Micro•Fuel to replenish and accelerate the growth aerobic anaerobic, and facultative bacterial populations. If phosphorus ( or phosphate ) levels are too low, then also use Continuum ULNS Phos to boost them to the proper level. Caution, overuse or improper use of this product can promote unwanted algae growth! Directions and protocol. Shake well immediately prior to use. Do not overuse! Testing must be employed to use this product! First test nitrate and phosphate level. If nitrate level is below 3.0 ppm, proceed with use of this product. If phosphate level is below .01 ppm or undetectible, you will need to also use ULNS Phos together with this product. Expert use. Easy Calculations based on measured phosphate level: (Continuum recommends an nitrate level of 3.0 to 5.0 ppm in the aquarium.) To increase the nitrate level .50 ppm in the aquarium, you will add 5 ml of ULNS Nitro for every 25 gallons (100L) of aquarium capacity. The calculation is: ml of product = tank capacity in gallons x PPM of nitrate addition x 0.4 (Example: if you have a 100 gallon tank and you are raising the nitrate level by .5 ppm you would multiply 100 x .5 x .4 which equals 20.0 ml of ULNS Nitro or about 4 capfuls). Wait 24 hours and re-test Nitrate and Phosphate levels. If they are unchanged, then the system is carbon limited. In this case add Reef Micro•Fuel as directed on its bottle. Repeat these steps until phosphate level reaches .02 ppm and Nitrate is 3.0 to 5.0 ppm. If phosphate level reaches .02 ppm and nitrate level is below 3.0 ppm, then add more ULNS Nitro to bring it up.

Caution, overuse or improper use of this product can promote unwanted algae growth! Directions and protocol. SShake well immediately prior to use. Do not overuse! Testing must be employed to use this product! First test nitrate and phosphate level. If phosphate level is below detectible limits, proceed with use of this product. Expert use. Easy Calculations based on measured phosphate level: (Continuum recommends an phosphate level of 0.02 ppm in the aquarium.) To increase the phosphate level .01 ppm in the aquarium, you will add 5 ml of ULNS Phos for every 25 gallons (100L) of aquarium capacity. The calculation is: ml of product = tank capacity in gallons x PPM of phosphate addition x 20.0. (Example: if you have a 100 gallon tank and you are raising the phosphate level by .01 ppm you would multiply 100 x .01 x 20.0 which equals 20.0 ml of ULNS Phos or about 4 capfuls). Wait 24 hours and re-test Nitrate and Phosphate levels. If they are unchanged, then the system is carbon limited. In this case add Reef Micro•Fuel as directed on its bottle. • Last stock! Continuum Zoo.Blast

    Continuum Zoo.Blast

Product Description Zoo•Blast is a nutritious complex of several naturally occuring zooplankton in a wide range of sizes from 200 to 2,000 uM. Zoo•Blast is not made from ground up shrimp or fish like several other products are, but is made with actual plankton! Zoo•Blast provides for growth and increased coloration, by providing proteins, naturally occuring lipids, including important omega fatty acids EPA and DHA, and a wide range of vitamins. It also contains carotenoids, for coloration. Zoo•Blast does not require refrigeration, but refrigeration will prolong shelf life. Use in aquarium keeping. Zoo•Blast is useful for feeding hard and soft corals, sponges, filter feeding worms, tunicates and clams of all types. It is particularly suited for those that feed on mesoplankton. Many species of marine fishes will also feed on Zoo•Blast. It is recommended that you turn off your protein skimmer and other filtration for 15 to 30 minutes prior to adding the Zoo•Blast to the aquarium. Be careful when feeding liquid foods, not to overload the system. It is recommended that you not add more than the recommended dosage of any food per day. Continuum recommends that the hobbyist vary the types and sizes of foods delivered into the reef aquarium. Other Continuum foods that make good choices for this food rotation include Coral Exponential, Ocean Snow, Micro•Blast and Phyto•Blast. Also, occasionally blending the foods and using them as soaks for other foods will give your invertebrates a variety simulating nature. Vary the time of day for feeding, as well, being sure to feed at night for those organisms that primarily feed nocturnally. Many corals feed primarily at night, extending their tentacles and mesentarial filaments, using their nematocysts to capture prey, and entrapping prey on their sticky tentacles with mucus and drawing it into their mouths. Directions and protocol. Shake well prior to use. Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 50 US-gallons (200 L) of marine aquarium water 2 to 3 times per week, in a area of high flow. Expert use. Target feeding is the best method of addition. Use a turkey baster, pipette, or similar tool to release upstream of animals to be fed. Do not touch corals with tool. Do not insert tool into this bottle, particularly do not allow aquarium water to enter the bottle, to do so will introduce bacteria into the product and accelerate its decomposition. Instead, pour appropriate amount of Zoo•Blast into a cup and use the tool in the cup. Feed all that you pour and do not return any product to the container (again to prevent contamination).
