    Continuum Zoo.Blast

Product Description Zoo•Blast is a nutritious complex of several naturally occuring zooplankton in a wide range of sizes from 200 to 2,000 uM. Zoo•Blast is not made from ground up shrimp or fish like several other products are, but is made with actual plankton! Zoo•Blast provides for growth and increased coloration, by providing proteins, naturally occuring lipids, including important omega fatty acids EPA and DHA, and a wide range of vitamins. It also contains carotenoids, for coloration. Zoo•Blast does not require refrigeration, but refrigeration will prolong shelf life. Use in aquarium keeping. Zoo•Blast is useful for feeding hard and soft corals, sponges, filter feeding worms, tunicates and clams of all types. It is particularly suited for those that feed on mesoplankton. Many species of marine fishes will also feed on Zoo•Blast. It is recommended that you turn off your protein skimmer and other filtration for 15 to 30 minutes prior to adding the Zoo•Blast to the aquarium. Be careful when feeding liquid foods, not to overload the system. It is recommended that you not add more than the recommended dosage of any food per day. Continuum recommends that the hobbyist vary the types and sizes of foods delivered into the reef aquarium. Other Continuum foods that make good choices for this food rotation include Coral Exponential, Ocean Snow, Micro•Blast and Phyto•Blast. Also, occasionally blending the foods and using them as soaks for other foods will give your invertebrates a variety simulating nature. Vary the time of day for feeding, as well, being sure to feed at night for those organisms that primarily feed nocturnally. Many corals feed primarily at night, extending their tentacles and mesentarial filaments, using their nematocysts to capture prey, and entrapping prey on their sticky tentacles with mucus and drawing it into their mouths. Directions and protocol. Shake well prior to use. Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 50 US-gallons (200 L) of marine aquarium water 2 to 3 times per week, in a area of high flow. Expert use. Target feeding is the best method of addition. Use a turkey baster, pipette, or similar tool to release upstream of animals to be fed. Do not touch corals with tool. Do not insert tool into this bottle, particularly do not allow aquarium water to enter the bottle, to do so will introduce bacteria into the product and accelerate its decomposition. Instead, pour appropriate amount of Zoo•Blast into a cup and use the tool in the cup. Feed all that you pour and do not return any product to the container (again to prevent contamination).

  • Last stock! Continuum Stress Defense M 500ml

    Continuum Stress Defense M 500ml

Product Description Stress Defense•M is a non-acidic, reef safe, technologically advanced, premium quality, maximum strength slime coating product that will reduce ammonia toxicity and stress when transporting or handling fish. Stress Defense•M coats wounds and abrasions like a bandage and helps fish slough off bacteria and parasites. Stress Defense•M does not contain aloe vera or carboxymethylcellulose which can decay in an aquarium and lower the redox and water quality. Unlike most competing products, it can be safely used in reefs with live corals, as well as all forms of marine aquariums. Use in Aquarium Keeping Healthy aquariums depend on a well functioning biological (bacterial) filter. Continuum recommends that you use BacterGen•M, BacterGen•MD or BacterClean•M simultaneously with the Stress Defense•M to establish a properly working bacteria filter and maintain it. This will keep deadly ammonia and nitrite from weakening the fishes immune system and contribute to their overall health and hardiness, making recovery faster and more complete. Many filter systems are undersized. To quickly increase filtration in any existing filter, slowly change out filter medium to Continuum Exxodus cubes, blocks, plates or bricks. Exxodus has the highest surface area for filtration of any filter medium in the world and will quickly increase filtration and fish load capacity in any system. Directions and protocol. For aid in healing sick fish: Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 10 US gallons (40 L) of aquarium water to increase fishes slime coating. Coat wounds each day, until fishes are well. In severe cases, you can double the dose. Discontinue after 5 days. Transporting or Bagging fish: Add 1/2 capful to 1 capful depending on size of bag and size of fish to increase slime coating. New aquariums or for water changes: Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 10 US gallons (40 L) of aquarium water to increase fishes slime coating, coat wounds and to remove chlorine. If you have chloramine or high ammonia, please use Continuum Fraction at half the recommended dose prior to this product for best results. Test for chlorine and ammonia to be zero. If not, re-treat as above and re-test until zero. Then adjust temperature, add salt (follow the manufacturer’s recommendations), and test for proper pH and any other parameters required for the type of animals you are keeping. When all parameters are within limits, add water to the established aquarium or add animals to a new aquarium.

  • Last stock! Continuum ULNS Nitro 500ml

    Continuum ULNS Nitro 500ml

Product Description ULNS Nitro is a complex inorganic nitrogen source designed to promote natural phosphorus uptake and nutrient control in ultra low nutrient systems which are nitrate limited. It provides an important nutrient source for nutrient assimilation and biological balance in the aquarium. It is recommended for use by advanced hobbyists. Bleaching or coral tissue degradation may occur in ULNS systems where adequate nutrient content is not maintained. ULNS systems depend on bacterial management of phosphate in a balanced carbon and nitrogen environment which allows rapid uptake of excess dissolved organic compounds. The conversion to bacterial biomass allows protein skimming to export unwanted nutrients that would otherwise build up in the system. This recycling of nutrients requires that all necessary nutrients, i.e. nitrogen, phosphorus, and carbon be present in concert. Use in aquarium keeping. For maximum results, Continuum recommends that you use this product with BacterGen•M, BacterGen•MD or BacterClean•M to keep microbe levels at optimum, along with Reef Micro•Fuel to replenish and accelerate the growth aerobic anaerobic, and facultative bacterial populations. If phosphorus ( or phosphate ) levels are too low, then also use Continuum ULNS Phos to boost them to the proper level. Caution, overuse or improper use of this product can promote unwanted algae growth! Directions and protocol. Shake well immediately prior to use. Do not overuse! Testing must be employed to use this product! First test nitrate and phosphate level. If nitrate level is below 3.0 ppm, proceed with use of this product. If phosphate level is below .01 ppm or undetectible, you will need to also use ULNS Phos together with this product. Expert use. Easy Calculations based on measured phosphate level: (Continuum recommends an nitrate level of 3.0 to 5.0 ppm in the aquarium.) To increase the nitrate level .50 ppm in the aquarium, you will add 5 ml of ULNS Nitro for every 25 gallons (100L) of aquarium capacity. The calculation is: ml of product = tank capacity in gallons x PPM of nitrate addition x 0.4 (Example: if you have a 100 gallon tank and you are raising the nitrate level by .5 ppm you would multiply 100 x .5 x .4 which equals 20.0 ml of ULNS Nitro or about 4 capfuls). Wait 24 hours and re-test Nitrate and Phosphate levels. If they are unchanged, then the system is carbon limited. In this case add Reef Micro•Fuel as directed on its bottle. Repeat these steps until phosphate level reaches .02 ppm and Nitrate is 3.0 to 5.0 ppm. If phosphate level reaches .02 ppm and nitrate level is below 3.0 ppm, then add more ULNS Nitro to bring it up.

  • Continuum Reef.Basis KH Buffer

    Continuum Reef.Basis KH Buffer

Product Description Basis KH Liquid Buffer is a high quality, multi-component blended true buffering system designed to raise the alkalinity or buffering capacity of marine fish and reef aquariums and automatically regulate the pH. It will hold pH stable over a wide range of conditions providing for safety of the entire system. Use in aquarium keeping. Proper control of pH is one of the most critical functions of a marine fish or reef aquarium. If you only measure one paramether of your aquarium, measure the alkalinity! It is the most important one. If pH is allowed to drop due to decay of organic matter, over saturation with carbon dioxide or any type of acid addition, then the animals will suffer and if it drops too much, they will become ill or die. Continuum recommends that you maintain an alkalinity level of 7 to 11 dKH (2.5 to 4 meq/L) and a pH of 8.3. Note: Aquarists keeping SPS corals should consider keeping alkalinity at 7 to no more than 9 dKH (2.5 to 3.21 meq/L).Do not add simultaneously with calcium or mineral supplements, wait a few minutes and allow for plenty of circulation prior. By waiting, you will avoid unnecessary precipitation and possible cloudiness. Directions and protocol. Shake well prior to use. Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 25 US-gallons ( 95 L ) of marine aquarium water 3 to 4 times per week. For best results, measure the alkalinity and add as necessary to maintain the desired alkalinity between 8 and 11 dKH (2.9 to 4 meq/L). Expert use. Dosing through use of a separate drip system is a superior method of addition. Two dosing systems are required to dose basis KH liquid simultaneously with calcium supplements and most other additives. Do not mix basis KH liquid with calcium or mineral supplements prior to addition. Determine the amount of alkalinity consumption during the time it takes add the entire volume of your drip system. Determine the amount of basis KH to add in milliliters by multiplying your tank capacity in gallons by the amount you want to raise it in meq/L and by 1.0 or in dKH by .357 (Example: if you have a 50 gallon tank and you want to raise the level by 1 meq/L with the entire dose, you would multiply 50 x 1 which equals 50 ml of basis KH liquid or 10 capfuls. Or if you want to raise it by 1 dKH, you would multiply 50 x .357 = 17.85 ml or about 3-1/2 capfuls.)

  • Continuum Ocean Snow

    Continuum Ocean Snow

Product Description Marine snow is a word first coined by American naturalist, marine biologist, and explorer William Beebe in the 1930's to describe the continuous shower of organic and inorganic particles that he observed from his bathysphere. In the ocean, marine snow provides a means of transporting nutrient rich matter from the photic zone near the surface towards the ocean floor. Continuum Ocean Snow replicates this process by providing a rich source of both organic and inorganic nutrients simultaneously. It provides aragonite based inorganic minerals, as well as rich marine proteins and lipids in ratios necessary for coral growth. Use in aquarium keeping. Ocean Snow provides an excellent means of supplying both organic and inorganic nutrients to filter feeding invertebrates of all types. It is useful for hard and soft corals, tube worms, clams, sponges, tunicates and others. Continuum recommends that the hobbyist vary the types and sizes of foods delivered into the reef aquarium. Other Continuum foods that make good choices for this food rotation include Coral Exponential, Micro• Blast, Zoo•Blast and Phyto•Blast. Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 50 US-gallons (200 L) of marine aquarium water 2 to 3 times per week. May be used as a food soak or added to food soak. Instead, pour appropriate amount of Ocean Snow into a cup and use the tool in the cup. Feed all that you pour and do not return any product to the container (again to prevent contamination).

Product Description Bacter Gen F will replenish and creates nitrifying bacteria. If your starting up a tank it is very important to have nitrifying to break down toxic ammonia and when ever you clean your filter you will remove part of you established bacteria and Gen F will help to bring it back. The Continuum advantage.Bacter gen F Water Conditioners breakthrough microbial culture specifically for establishing and maintaining freshwater systemsBacterGen F is a breakthrough in microbial cultures.  Specifically designed for freshwater aquariums, BacterGen F rapidly establishes nitrifying biological filtration in new aquariums, greatly reducing the time it takes to cycle the system. It also improves the aquarium environment by delivering bacteria to digest leftover food, decaying organic material and detritus, providing a cleaner environment for your aquarium inhabitants. Whereas competing products may increase the production of toxic hydrogen sulfide in the system, BacterGen F is non-sulfur fixing and will reduce it to near zero. BacterGen F contains both aerobic and anaerobic microbes which will generate new populations and greatly increase existing bacterial populations to establish and accelerate nitrification and denitrification. Use in aquarium keeping. Aquarium systems accumulate waste from uneaten food, feces and other organic material. Over time, this accumulation lowers water quality, releases toxic gases into the water, and creates sludge on the bottom. BacterGen•F, will rapidly increase the population of beneficial microorganisms, resulting in an increase in water clarity, reduction of organic matter, and a decrease in undesirable nutrients, particularly ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate.

  • Continuum Reef Basis Lugol's EX 30ml

Continuum Reef Basis Lugol's EX 30ml

Product Description Reef•Basis Lugol's EX is a very powerful supplement, designed to nourish organisms that require iodine. It is particularly useful for soft corals of all kinds, particularly xenia, as well as gorgonians, hard corals, tunicates, marine worms such as feather dusters, sponges, macroalgae, and crustaceans, particularly shrimp. Growth rates in xenia and gorgonians will likely improve with it's use. It helps all corals and clams retain their coloration and shield against strong lighting. This will allow them to open more fully and be more beautiful. Reef•Basis Iodide contains no gluconate or polygluconate. Use in aquarium keeping. Iodine, while present in better salt mixes, is rapidly removed through ozone, skimming, carbon and other filtration and used up by inhabitants. It is necessary, therefore, to supplement it for maximum invertebrate and algae health. You can use Reef•Basis Iodide or Reef•Basis Sustain Iodine as a basis for your iodine for your reef and then add the Lugol's as a booster, but be careful not to overdose. If you are propagating corals, be sure to use Coral Exponential to provide naturally ratioed amino acids for accelerated tissue growth along with Reef•Basis Calcium, Magnesium, and Strontium to provide proper minerals for aragonite growth. Also, use Coral Micro•N to add vitamins and trace minerals specifically designed for corals. Continuum recommends that you maintain about .04 to .06 mg/l (ppm) iodide level in your aquarium, if measuring. Directions and protocol. This product is for expert use only! It is very strong and must not be overdosed! Add only 1 drop (.05 ml) per 40 US-gallons (150 L) of marine aquarium water 1 to 2 times per week. Do not overdose! Continuum recommends that you measure the iodine level with a quality test kit and maintain about .04 to .06 mg/l (ppm) iodide level in your aquarium. Some corals, particularly large stonies, may not respond positively if you even slightly overdose this product. Observe inhabitants closely and if they close, and refuse to re-open, they are usually telling you that they are not happy. In that case, this product may be completely removed by a dose of Continuum Fraction (Chlorine, Chloramine and Ammonia remover) added directly into the aquarium.
