Strictly speaking, cholla is not wood, but the skeleton of the cereus. Because of its natural and unique structure it is a brilliant hideout and an optimal retreat for all invertebrates. It is free of any chemicals as well as pesticides and additionally very rich in potassium, calcium and magnesium. Furthermore, a microbial biofilm is formed over time. Hence, shrimps and crayfish don't just hide inside the cholla wood, but intensely graze the surface time and again. The cholla wood is hollow inside and it sinks rapidly to the ground. Moreover, it can get planted with fern, moss or algae and gets more decorative as a result.

This cholla wood is 10 cm long and available with three different diameters. Whereby the wide open variant with a diameter of 3 - 5 cm offers a particularly large cavity which and is therefore ideal for shrimp to live in and wander through.
